Revelation 20:1-3, 6-7, 11-12 “1 And I saw an angel come down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand. 2 And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years, 3 and cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled: and after that he must be loosed a little season.” … 6-9 “6 Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years. 7 And when the thousand years are expired, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison,” …11-12 “11 And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them. 12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.”

Introduction
Now the symbolic images in Rev. 19th chapter deals with the judgement of the whore and the great supper for the fowl of the air to eat the flesh of those that have the mark of the beast. It was revealed that the fowls of the air are angels, and the meal they are eating is spiritual, not physical. It can be summed up in Peter’s dream when he was told to go to the Cornelius house.
Now Peter was given a vision concerning the grafting in of the Gentiles. It was shown to him in symbolic form where the Gentiles were represented in the form of four-footed breasts, birds, creeping crawling things. Peter was told by the angel “Rise, slay and eat.” When Peter heard this, he interpreted this literally saying nothing unclean shall enter into his mouth because under the Law these animals were considered unclean (Acts 10:9-12, 14-16).
This slaying and eating was spiritual, meaning the Gentiles’ previous preconceived thoughts of Yahweh (all the idolatry) were slain and eaten by Peter preaching the gospel which transformed their beastly, carnal nature. Now Peter full of the Holy Spirit typified an angel from heaven.

In Rev. 20th Chapter John revisits some repeating themes found in earlier chapters of Revelation such as the key, the bottomless pit, the 1000 year day, judgement to the souls beheaded for the witness of Yahshua and judgement to the wicked ones who received the mark of the beast.
Revelation 20:1-3 “1 And I saw an angel come down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand. 2 And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years, 3 and cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled: and after that he must be loosed a little season.”
John is describing Satan being bound at Yahshua the Messiah’s resurrection on the third day after His death and burial. See explanation of the first resurrection and the 1000 years in Revelation 20:6-9 below.
H. C. Kinley compared Yahshua’s resurrection with the seed of vegetation resurrecting on the Third Day according to Moses’ vision. “… This is compared with the Seed of vegetation, being quickened and penetrating the soil thereof on the Third Day of Creation; just as The Messiah, the Seed of Abraham was quickened on the Third Day and Resurrected. As the vegetation on the Third Day of Creation was the firstfruits, so also does this represent Yahshua in His Resurrection, being the Firstfruits (I Corinthians 15:20) of them which slept in the dust of the Earth, shown by the opening of the graves after His Resurrection, and many of the Saints rising and entering on into Jerusalem (Matthew 27:52), as shown in Plates 1C, 8C, and 31C, or the Holy Place. Vol. 1, p. 62”
Understanding 2 Peter 3:8, we see that 1 day = 1,000 years, so Satan was bound on that day or for 1000 years, but let loose afterwards for a little season which is the 42 months described in Rev. 11:2; 13:5.
Satan was first let loose after the Resurrection when he told the lie that the disciples came and stole the Messiah's body away (Matt. 28:11-15). This lie began our present kingdom age of grace, which is compared with Satan telling Eve a lie at the beginning of the first age in time.

Revelation 20:4-5 “4 And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years. 5 But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection.”
Those sitting on the thrones include the apostles who the Messiah said would come with him to judge Israel (Matthew 19:28).
Matt. 19:27-30 27Then answered Peter and said unto him, Behold, we have forsaken all, and followed thee; what shall we have therefore? 28And Jesus said unto them, Verily I say unto you, That ye which have followed me, in the regeneration when the Son of man shall sit in the throne of his glory, ye also shall sit upon twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel. 29And every one that hath forsaken houses, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my name's sake, shall receive an hundredfold, and shall inherit everlasting life. 30But many that are first shall be last; and the last shall be first.”
These are the martyrs, including the Apostles and other that died after Pentecost at the beginning of the age until now. The rest of the dead resurrected during the first resurrection when Yahshua and all those in the graves resurrected.

Revelation 20:6-9 “6 Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years. 7 And when the thousand years are expired, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison, 8 and shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle: the number of whom is as the sand of the sea. 9 And they went up on the breadth of the earth, and compassed the camp of the saints about, and the beloved city: and fire came down from God out of heaven, and devoured them.”
Here the first resurrection began with Yahshua the Messiah who resurrected from the tomb first and those souls from Adam, Abel (first murder victim by Cain his brother) down to John the Baptist, resurrected after him. Remember, they were all physically dead and spiritually dead as the result of Adam’s death in the garden. For in Adam all died, and in Yahshua are all made alive forever more. (1 Cor. 15:22.) This spiritual death was atoned for by Yahshua the Messiah (John 1:29).
All these souls reigned with the Messiah in Jerusalem for the day of His resurrection.
Now this day, 24 hours period, represents a 1,000 years.
Many Christians and Bible studies interpret this thousand years literally (Meaning 1000 yrs x 365 days) not understanding how it is defined in the scriptures, 2 Pet. 3:8)
Now the Apostle Peter wrote:
1 day = 1,000 years.
“But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.” (2 Pet. 3:8 KJV)
King David supported this and wrote: “For a thousand years in thy sight are but as yesterday when it is past, and as a watch in the night (Psa. 90:4).”
After the thousand year day, Satan was loosed. This was after the spirits tarried for a day in Jerusalem and ascended into heaven.
This is what the prophet Joel wrote about the day of the resurrection (Joel 2:1-11).
Joel 2:1-2 “1 Blow ye the trumpet in Zion, and sound an alarm in my holy mountain: let all the inhabitants of the land tremble: for the day of the LORD cometh, for it is nigh at hand; 2 a day of darkness and of gloominess, a day of clouds and of thick darkness, as the morning spread upon the mountains: a great people and a strong; there hath not been ever the like, neither shall be any more after it, even to the years of many generations.”...
Joel 2:6-7 “6 Before their face the people shall be much pained: all faces shall gather blackness. 7 They shall run like mighty men; they shall climb the wall like men of war; and they shall march every one on his ways, and they shall not break their ranks:” ...
Joel 2:9-11 “9 They shall run to and fro in the city; they shall run upon the wall, they shall climb up upon the houses; they shall enter in at the windows like a thief. 10 The earth shall quake before them; the heavens shall tremble: the sun and the moon shall be dark, and the stars shall withdraw their shining: 11 and the LORD shall utter his voice before his army: for his camp is very great: for he is strong that executeth his word: for the day of the LORD is great and very terrible; and who can abide it?”
Generally Christians and Bible commentaries think of Gog and Magog as Russia in Ezek. 38-39 Chapters. Many Christians use these chapters to describe Russia and others attacking physical Israel and the WW3.
Here in Revelation it explains the purpose of Gog and Magog representing the Jews and later the Gentiles that attacked Yahshua and His followers (His body). Remember, Yahshua told Paul on the road to Damascus at his conversion, that his persecution of the assembly was a persecution of Yahshua Himself, meaning the assembly was His Spiritual Body.
Acts 9:1-5 “1 And Saul, yet breathing out threatenings and slaughter against the disciples of the Lord, went unto the high priest, 2 And desired of him letters to Damascus to the synagogues, that if he found any of this way, whether they were men or women, he might bring them bound unto Jerusalem. 3 And as he journeyed, he came near Damascus: and suddenly there shined round about him a light from heaven: 4 And he fell to the earth, and heard a voice saying unto him, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me? 5 And he said, Who art thou, Lord? And the Lord said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest: it is hard for thee to kick against the pricks.”
Gog and Magog are carnal minded Jews and Gentiles, respectively, who did not follow the New Covenant of Grace. See paper written in 1983/84 by Dr. Lee Warren Armageddon by the Divine Pattern, p. 44, 52-53.

Revelation 20:10 “10 And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.”
There are numerous examples in the Law and Prophets of the devil being cast down in type and shadow into the lake of fire. For example, Sodom and Gomorrah were consumed by brimstone and fire (Gn. 19:24).
The Law
“Then the LORD rained upon Sodom and upon Gomorrah brimstone and fire from the LORD out of heaven;” Genesis 19:24 KJV
The Prophets
“Upon the wicked he shall rain snares, fire and brimstone, and an horrible tempest: This shall be the portion of their cup.” Psalm 11:6
“And I will plead against him with pestilence and with blood; and I will rain upon him, and upon his bands, and upon the many people that are with him, an overflowing rain, and great hailstones, fire, and brimstone.” Ezekiel 38:22 KJV
The Fulfillment
“Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot; they did eat, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they builded; but the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all.” Luke 17:28-29 KJV

Revelation 20:11-15 “11 And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them. 12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. 13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. 14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. 15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.”
There are a few examples in the Law and Prophets of Elohim/Yahshua’s throne described as a white throne.
Now the best description of Elohim’s throne is by Daniel in the Old Testament. He described Elohim’s throne as follows: “As I looked, thrones were placed, and the Ancient of Days took his seat; his clothing was white as snow, and the hair of his head like pure wool; his throne was fiery flames; its wheels were burning fire. (Dan. 7:9)”
The only description of Elohim’s throne in the Law of Moses is the Ark of the Covenant with the two archangels joined by the Mercy Seat.

John saw the dead, both small and great, stand before Elohim. He saw two books, the Book of Life and the books of the spiritually dead opened.
These books symbolically represent what beliefs were written in the minds or consciousness of these souls. The sum up these two books follow.
“He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him. (John 3:36)”
The books of the spiritually dead (not the Book of Life) being opened are judged by the principles of the New Covenant (NC): accepting Yahshua the Messiah, as the atoning sacrifice for sin (John 1:29), receiving His grace (Eph. 2:8-9) and being led by the Holy Spirit (Jn. 14:25-26).
This NC is the works of our Present Kingdom Age of Grace. Just like you have works under the Old Covenant in the Post Diluvian Age, the NC also has works as stated in the paragraph above (not physical, but spiritual). Those who refuse to abide by it, as religious leaders of Israel did at the beginning of this age (Rom. 10:1-3), will be judged out of the Book of Life.
The religious leaders of Israel persecuted the true believers of Yahshua because they were ignorant that the Law of Moses had ended. Others, non-believers, scoffers, philosophies, and those who followed other ideologies will find their portion in the lake of fire for not believing in Yahshua.
Now this second death are those who refused to accept the New Covenant of Salvation by Grace, which began with the Holy Spirit being poured out on the day of Pentecost in Jerusalem 33 AD.
Now the first death, which is spiritual, began with the transgression in the Garden of Eden and ended with the Messiah’s death on the cross, which also ended the Law of Moses. (Rom. 10:4-10)
“Nevertheless death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over them that had not sinned after the similitude of Adam's transgression, who is the figure of him that was to come.”
Romans 5:14 KJV
“For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth.” Rom. 10:4 KJV
These are the scriptures that validate both Moses and Daniel who saw their names written in the book of Life as the Apostle John saw in a vision. The name of those who sinned were blotted out and judged before Elohim (Dan. 7:10)
Now this is correlated with Moses who asked Yahweh to forgive Israel for building the golden calf and take him instead (Exo 32:32-33 chapter). Yahweh replied that he would blot them out of the book who had sinned against him.
The Law
“Yet now, if thou wilt forgive their sin―; and if not, blot me, I pray thee, out of thy book which thou hast written. And the Lord said unto Moses, Whosoever hath sinned against me, him will I blot out of my book.” Exodus 32:32-33 KJV
The Prophets
“Let them be blotted out of the book of the living, And not be written with the righteous.” Psalm 69:28 KJV
The Spiritual Reality
“Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;”
Colossians 2:14 KJV
The Messiah didn't literally refer to the Book of Life in the gospels, but spoke of the principle of the evil being blotted out (Matt. 22:18).
So all those not written in the Book of Life are cast into the lake of fire. This is a place where the souls are tormented by spiritual fire, not physical. The physical fire and brimstone are reflects of this spiritual fire and brimstone (Rom. 1:19-20).

Here the first resurrection began with Yahshua the Messiah who resurrected from the tomb first and those souls from Adam, Abel (first murder victim by Cain his brother) down to John the Baptist, resurrected after him. Remember, they were all physically dead and spiritually dead as the result of Adam’s death in the garden. For in Adam all died, and in Yahshua are all made alive forever more. (1 Cor. 15:22.) This spiritual death was atoned for by Yahshua the Messiah (John 1:29).
All these souls reigned with the Messiah in Jerusalem for the day of His resurrection.
Now this day, 24 hours period, represents a 1,000 years.
Many Christians and Bible studies interpret this thousand years literally (Meaning 1000 yrs x 365 days) not understanding how it is defined in the scriptures, 2 Pet. 3:8)
Now the Apostle Peter wrote:
1 day = 1,000 years.
“But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.” (2 Pet. 3:8 KJV)
King David supported this and wrote: “For a thousand years in thy sight are but as yesterday when it is past, and as a watch in the night (Psa. 90:4).”
After the thousand year day, Satan was loosed. This was after the spirits tarried for a day in Jerusalem and ascended into heaven.
This is what the prophet Joel wrote about the day of the resurrection (Joel 2:1-11).
Joel 2:1-2 “1 Blow ye the trumpet in Zion, and sound an alarm in my holy mountain: let all the inhabitants of the land tremble: for the day of the LORD cometh, for it is nigh at hand; 2 a day of darkness and of gloominess, a day of clouds and of thick darkness, as the morning spread upon the mountains: a great people and a strong; there hath not been ever the like, neither shall be any more after it, even to the years of many generations.”...
Joel 2:6-7 “6 Before their face the people shall be much pained: all faces shall gather blackness. 7 They shall run like mighty men; they shall climb the wall like men of war; and they shall march every one on his ways, and they shall not break their ranks:” ...
Joel 2:9-11 “9 They shall run to and fro in the city; they shall run upon the wall, they shall climb up upon the houses; they shall enter in at the windows like a thief. 10 The earth shall quake before them; the heavens shall tremble: the sun and the moon shall be dark, and the stars shall withdraw their shining: 11 and the LORD shall utter his voice before his army: for his camp is very great: for he is strong that executeth his word: for the day of the LORD is great and very terrible; and who can abide it?”
Generally Christians and Bible commentaries think of Gog and Magog as Russia in Ezek. 38-39 Chapters. Many Christians use these chapters to describe Russia and others attacking physical Israel and the WW3.
Here in Revelation it explains the purpose of Gog and Magog representing the Jews and later the Gentiles that attacked Yahshua and His followers (His body). Remember, Yahshua told Paul on the road to Damascus at his conversion, that his persecution of the assembly was a persecution of Yahshua Himself, meaning the assembly was His Spiritual Body.
Acts 9:1-5 “1 And Saul, yet breathing out threatenings and slaughter against the disciples of the Lord, went unto the high priest, 2 And desired of him letters to Damascus to the synagogues, that if he found any of this way, whether they were men or women, he might bring them bound unto Jerusalem. 3 And as he journeyed, he came near Damascus: and suddenly there shined round about him a light from heaven: 4 And he fell to the earth, and heard a voice saying unto him, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me? 5 And he said, Who art thou, Lord? And the Lord said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest: it is hard for thee to kick against the pricks.”
Gog and Magog are carnal minded Jews and Gentiles, respectively, who did not follow the New Covenant of Grace. See paper written in 1983/84 by Dr. Lee Warren Armageddon by the Divine Pattern, p. 44, 52-53.

Revelation 20:10 “10 And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.”
There are numerous examples in the Law and Prophets of the devil being cast down in type and shadow into the lake of fire. For example, Sodom and Gomorrah were consumed by brimstone and fire (Gn. 19:24).
The Law
“Then the LORD rained upon Sodom and upon Gomorrah brimstone and fire from the LORD out of heaven;” Genesis 19:24 KJV
The Prophets
“Upon the wicked he shall rain snares, fire and brimstone, and an horrible tempest: This shall be the portion of their cup.” Psalm 11:6
“And I will plead against him with pestilence and with blood; and I will rain upon him, and upon his bands, and upon the many people that are with him, an overflowing rain, and great hailstones, fire, and brimstone.” Ezekiel 38:22 KJV
The Fulfillment
“Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot; they did eat, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they builded; but the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all.” Luke 17:28-29 KJV

Revelation 20:11-15 “11 And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them. 12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. 13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. 14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. 15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.”
There are a few examples in the Law and Prophets of Elohim/Yahshua’s throne described as a white throne.
Now the best description of Elohim’s throne is by Daniel in the Old Testament. He described Elohim’s throne as follows: “As I looked, thrones were placed, and the Ancient of Days took his seat; his clothing was white as snow, and the hair of his head like pure wool; his throne was fiery flames; its wheels were burning fire. (Dan. 7:9)”
The only description of Elohim’s throne in the Law of Moses is the Ark of the Covenant with the two archangels joined by the Mercy Seat.

John saw the dead, both small and great, stand before Elohim. He saw two books, the Book of Life and the books of the spiritually dead opened.
These books symbolically represent what beliefs were written in the minds or consciousness of these souls. The sum up these two books follow.
“He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him. (John 3:36)”
The books of the spiritually dead (not the Book of Life) being opened are judged by the principles of the New Covenant (NC): accepting Yahshua the Messiah, as the atoning sacrifice for sin (John 1:29), receiving His grace (Eph. 2:8-9) and being led by the Holy Spirit (Jn. 14:25-26).
This NC is the works of our Present Kingdom Age of Grace. Just like you have works under the Old Covenant in the Post Diluvian Age, the NC also has works as stated in the paragraph above (not physical, but spiritual). Those who refuse to abide by it, as religious leaders of Israel did at the beginning of this age (Rom. 10:1-3), will be judged out of the Book of Life.
The religious leaders of Israel persecuted the true believers of Yahshua because they were ignorant that the Law of Moses had ended. Others, non-believers, scoffers, philosophies, and those who followed other ideologies will find their portion in the lake of fire for not believing in Yahshua.
Now this second death are those who refused to accept the New Covenant of Salvation by Grace, which began with the Holy Spirit being poured out on the day of Pentecost in Jerusalem 33 AD.
Now the first death, which is spiritual, began with the transgression in the Garden of Eden and ended with the Messiah’s death on the cross, which also ended the Law of Moses. (Rom. 10:4-10)
“Nevertheless death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over them that had not sinned after the similitude of Adam's transgression, who is the figure of him that was to come.”
Romans 5:14 KJV
“For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth.” Rom. 10:4 KJV
These are the scriptures that validate both Moses and Daniel who saw their names written in the book of Life as the Apostle John saw in a vision. The name of those who sinned were blotted out and judged before Elohim (Dan. 7:10)
Now this is correlated with Moses who asked Yahweh to forgive Israel for building the golden calf and take him instead (Exo 32:32-33 chapter). Yahweh replied that he would blot them out of the book who had sinned against him.
The Law
“Yet now, if thou wilt forgive their sin―; and if not, blot me, I pray thee, out of thy book which thou hast written. And the Lord said unto Moses, Whosoever hath sinned against me, him will I blot out of my book.” Exodus 32:32-33 KJV
The Prophets
“Let them be blotted out of the book of the living, And not be written with the righteous.” Psalm 69:28 KJV
The Spiritual Reality
“Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;”
Colossians 2:14 KJV
The Messiah didn't literally refer to the Book of Life in the gospels, but spoke of the principle of the evil being blotted out (Matt. 22:18).
So all those not written in the Book of Life are cast into the lake of fire. This is a place where the souls are tormented by spiritual fire, not physical. The physical fire and brimstone are reflects of this spiritual fire and brimstone (Rom. 1:19-20).
