Revelation 21:1-3, 10-12, 18-21 “21 And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea. 2 And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. 3 And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God. … 10 And he carried me away in the spirit to a great and high mountain, and shewed me that great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God, 11 Having the glory of God: and her light was like unto a stone most precious, even like a jasper stone, clear as crystal; 12 And had a wall great and high, and had twelve gates, and at the gates twelve angels, and names written thereon, which are the names of the twelve tribes of the children of Israel: … 18 And the building of the wall of it was of jasper: and the city was pure gold, like unto clear glass. 19 And the foundations of the wall of the city were garnished with all manner of precious stones. The first foundation was jasper; the second, sapphire; the third, a chalcedony; the fourth, an emerald; 20 The fifth, sardonyx; the sixth, sardius; the seventh, chrysolyte; the eighth, beryl; the ninth, a topaz; the tenth, a chrysoprasus; the eleventh, a jacinth; the twelfth, an amethyst. 21 And the twelve gates were twelve pearls: every several gate was of one pearl: and the street of the city was pure gold, as it were transparent glass.”

Introduction


Rev. 21:1-2
21 And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea. 2 And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.


John is comparing the first heaven and earth passing away with Israel leaving Egypt (first heaven and first earth) through the Red Sea and emerging into the Wilderness, a type of the Holy City, New Jerusalem, where Elohim appeared in a cloud atop Mt. Sinai. This is a marriage between Israel and Yahweh.


The Law, Prophets, and Fulfillment 
Isaiah 65:17-19
“For behold, I create new heavens and a new earth, and the former things shall not be remembered or come into mind. But be glad and rejoice forever in that which I create; for behold, I create Jerusalem to be a joy, and her people to be a gladness. I will rejoice in Jerusalem and be glad in my people; no more shall be heard in it the sound of weeping and the cry of distress.”


When the Children of Israel came to the Wilderness they didn’t remember the suffering they experienced in Egypt anymore or being enslaved.  They rejoiced at their new found freedom from the task masters.


H. C. Kinley wrote in Elohim the Archetypal Pattern of the Universe, Vol. 1, p. 71, “ARROW NO. 1 COMPARED TO ARROW NO. 1A (See chart on page 73)
As in the beginning of Moses’ Vision of the Creation of the Heaven and Earth, by the Pattern of the Tabernacle, we also find a prophetic confirmation in the beginning of John’s Vision which he recorded in Revelation, for as we have already stated, the New Heaven and Earth are drawn out of the Old just as the New Testament is drawn out of the Old.” …


P. 79 “John - 5A - In the 21st chapter of Revelation, John recorded this incident, which also pertains to the New Heaven and Earth. The FIRST HEAVEN and the FIRST EARTH which John saw pass away in the experiences of the Israelites passage through the Red Sea from Egypt, was a type of the world, death, darkness and ignorance; while the Israelites burial in the Red Sea, and passage into the Wilderness of Sinai was a figure of the death, burial and resurrection of Yahshua the Messiah. …
“John understood the spiritual meaning of the Israelites’ experiences in the Wilderness and also in Canaan Land, before he arrived on the Isle of Patmos. He knew that their experiences in the present earth state were but a type and shadow of the NEW HEAVEN and EARTH which is eternal and is spiritually discerned; it is Inconceivable and Intangible except it be revealed by the spirit of Elohim in man (1 Corinthians 2:10-11).”

Rev. 21:2-3
3 And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God. 4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.


The Tabernacle being in the midst of Israel’s camp that Moses received instructions atop mount Sinai to build was dedicated (Exo. 40:34; Lev. 16:2; Acts 2:1).  The High Priest officiated therein.


Exo. 40:34 Then a cloud covered the tent of the congregation, and the glory of the Lord filled the tabernacle.

Rev. 21:5-8
5 And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful.
6 And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely. 7 He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son. 8 But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.


As stated earlier, we saw how Elohim created the New Heaven and New Earth (NH & HE) and made all things new. 


Remember, when the Children of Israel was in the Wilderness and Yahweh gave them water to drink. (Exo. 17:1-7)


The 8th verse is covered in Rev. 20th Chapter.

Rev. 21:9-11
9 And there came unto me one of the seven angels which had the seven vials full of the seven last plagues, and talked with me, saying, Come hither, I will shew thee the bride, the Lamb's wife. 10 And he carried me away in the spirit to a great and high mountain, and shewed me that great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God, 11 Having the glory of God: and her light was like unto a stone most precious, even like a jasper stone, clear as crystal;


As it is in heaven, so it is in the earth (Rom. 1:19-20).  The angel with 7 plagues are correlated with Moses and Aaron pouring out the 7 last plagues on Egypt. Israel was Elohim’s wife.  Moses and Joshua were taken up in a high mountain and was shown the creation of H&E which is a reflection of New Jerusalem.


Stones represent attributes of the spirit such as pure peace, intelligence, or knowledge. 
“One of the most common interpretations of the spiritual meaning of Jasper is that it carries an energy, or vibration of peace, calm, and tranquility. Jasper is also widely held to be a very nurturing stone, bringing comfort and reassurance to the wearer or bearer as well as feelings of optimism and freedom from fear.”

Rev. 21: 12
12 And had a wall great and high, and had twelve gates, and at the gates twelve angels, and names written thereon, which are the names of the twelve tribes of the children of Israel:
Here John is seeing in his vision the heavenly city of Jerusalem which is the reality of the camp of the 12 tribes setup in the wilderness by Moses, as the tribes camped around the tabernacle. See photo below and in Vol. 1, p. 81.

Rev. 21:13-14
13 On the east three gates; on the north three gates; on the south three gates; and on the west three gates. 14 And the wall of the city had twelve foundations, and in them the names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb.


The city of heavenly Jerusalem’s layout is similar to Israel’s camp, which is the reflect of this city. There were three tribes on each of the four sides of Israel’s camp with the tabernacle in the middle.


Instead of the three tribes on each side of the tabernacle, they have been replaced by three gates of the city on each side of the city.


Now the city’s foundation consisted of 12 foundations that correspond to the 12 apostles, who were the foundation for the New Covenant, by the outpouring of the Holy Spirit AD 33, in this Present Kingdom Age of Grace.

Rev. 21:15-16
15 And he that talked with me had a golden reed to measure the city, and the gates thereof, and the wall thereof. 16 And the city lieth foursquare, and the length is as large as the breadth: and he measured the city with the reed, twelve thousand furlongs. The length and the breadth and the height of it are equal.


12,000 furlongs = 1500 miles 
Hence, the city is 1,500 miles square on each side.
In other words, the city 3 x 500 miles squared, which is three Jubilees.


The reed is likened unto the Tabernacle Pattern.

Rev. 21:17
17 And he measured the wall thereof, an hundred and forty and four cubits, according to the measure of a man, that is, of the angel.


1 cubit = 18 inches
144 x 18 = 216
144 cubits = 216 ft.


So the wall’s height was 216 ft high.


In Hebrew measurement the wall of the heavenly city is based on 144 cubits. The 144 is the number of 144,000 born in the wilderness. Those who came out of Egypt died in the wilderness. So 144,000 reflect the new birth.

Rev. 21:18-21 
18 And the building of the wall of it was of jasper: and the city was pure gold, like unto clear glass. 19 And the foundations of the wall of the city were garnished with all manner of precious stones. The first foundation was jasper; the second, sapphire; the third, a chalcedony; the fourth, an emerald; 20 The fifth, sardonyx; the sixth, sardius; the seventh, chrysolyte; the eighth, beryl; the ninth, a topaz; the tenth, a chrysoprasus; the eleventh, a jacinth; the twelfth, an amethyst. 21 And the twelve gates were twelve pearls: every several gate was of one pearl: and the street of the city was pure gold, as it were transparent glass.


What’s above is below and what’s below reflects that which is above (Rom. 1:19-20).  The Children of Israel in the Wilderness built the tabernacle and in Canaan Land built Solomon’s temple. 


The breastplate of the High Priest that officiated within the tabernacle also had 12 precious stones (Exo. 28:15-21).  Some of the stones In the breastplate don’t match with the stones in the wall of New Jerusalem. 


Below are the metaphysical meaning of the stones from the Metaphysical Bible Dictionary.  Some have the same meanings and aren’t understood in modern times.  Merchants use many similar attributes to sell their stones.


Jasper - peace, calm, and tranquility, see above
Sapphire - beautiful, splendid, pure deep transparent blue, the color of truth.
Chalcedony promotes brotherhood and good will, absorbs negative energy, instills benevolence and generosity
Emerald - healing and fertility.
sardonyx used as a stone of courage and protection, associated with happiness and clear communication
Sardius - strength and protection
Chrysolyte thought to dispel night terrors, represents wisdom and charity, good luck
beryl - strength and resiliency
topaz - love, passion, and purpose
chrysoprasus - happiness and joy, prudence
jacinth - peace, 
amethyst - control evil thoughts, not intoxicated


Exo. 28:15-21
“15 And thou shalt make the breastplate of judgment with cunning work; after the work of the ephod thou shalt make it; of gold, of blue, and of purple, and of scarlet, and of fine twined linen, shalt thou make it. … 17 And thou shalt set in it settings of stones, even four rows of stones: the first row shall be a sardius, a topaz, and a carbuncle: this shall be the first row. 18 And the second row shall be an emerald, a sapphire, and a diamond. 19 And the third row a ligure, an agate, and an amethyst. 20 And the fourth row a beryl, and an onyx, and a jasper: they shall be set in gold in their inclosings. 21 And the stones shall be with the names of the children of Israel, twelve, according to their names, like the engravings of a signet; every one with his name shall they be according to the twelve tribes.”


Dr. H. C. Kinley writes in Vol. 1, p. 70-71, VISION OF MOSES AND THE APOSTLE JOHN IN COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS …” John - 1A - John in his Vision on the Isle of Patmos HEARD THE VOICE that spake with him and he turned and saw Elohim (who is, as we understand Him to be the RESURRECTED and GLORIFIED SANCTUARY or TEMPLE), in the midst of the seven golden candlesticks, clothed with a garment down to the feet and girt about the paps with a golden girdle, which was typified by the garments for Beauty and Glory, and the Ephod with twelve precious stones therein, worn by the High Priest, and the furnishings of the Tabernacle, and the golden, overlaid, covering of the Temple with its interior furnishings. … His Countenance was as the Sun shineth in His strength, this was typified by the Temple elevated on Mount Moriah, in Jerusalem, overlaid with gold and decked with precious stones and the Sun Light shining thereupon, sending its dazzling rays until the BRIGHTNESS could not be looked upon with the naked eye.”


Dr. Kinley describes Solomon’s Temple in Vol. 4, p. 37 “… The whole House was overlaid with gold (1 Kings 6:21-22; 2 Chronicles 3:7), and garnished with precious stones for beauty (2 Chronicles 3:6).”


p. 41 “The Temple, elevated on Mount Moriah, with its Porch, Sanctuary and Oracle overlaid with gold, shining against the highly polished, glistening white, precious stones, blinding the eyes of onlookers, the dazzling light of the Sun beaming down upon it, adding to the attraction of its magnificence and celestial glory, was now “Finished” and ready for the ARK of the COVENANT to be placed within the Oracle.”

Rev. 21:22 And I saw no temple therein: for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are the temple of it.


There was no temple in heaven because Yahweh Elohim and the Lamb are the temple. In reality, they are one and the same.


Now the Apostle Paul wrote our body is the temple for the Holy Spirit (I Cor. 6:19-20).


Thus, Elohim and the Lamb, along with those with Holy Spirit, are one temple (1 John 5:7).  The Scriptures seem to convey there are two temples, but it is only one temple with a head and a body. See scriptures below.

“Then answered the Jews and said unto him, What sign shewest thou unto us, seeing that thou doest these things? Jesus answered and said unto them, Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up. Then said the Jews, Forty and six years was this temple in building, and wilt thou rear it up in three days? But he spake of the temple of his body.”
John 2:18-21 KJV


“What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?”
1 Corinthians 6:19 KJV

Rev. 21: 23 And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof.


Israel received light from a phenomenal cloud, which was a pillar of fire by night and a cloud by day (Exo. 13:21-22) and Israel had light in Goshen when Egypt was in darkness (Exo. 10:23).


At the transfiguration of Yahshua, He transformed into a body of light before Peter, James, and John.


“And after six days Jesus taketh Peter, James, and John his brother, and bringeth them up into an high mountain apart, and was transfigured before them: and his face did shine as the sun, and his raiment was white as the light.”
Matthew 17:1-2 KJV

Rev. 21: 24 And the nations of them which are saved shall walk in the light of it: and the kings of the earth do bring their glory and honour into it.


As it is in heaven, so is it on earth (Rom. 1:19-20).
The nation saved walked in the light thereof. On earth Israel and the disciples/apostles walked in the light. Apostle Paul said we are children of the light not darkness. (1 These 5:5)

5 Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness.


John 12:46 KJV
“I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness.”

Rev. 21: 25-26
25 And the gates of it shall not be shut at all by day: for there shall be no night there. 26 And they shall bring the glory and honour of the nations into it.


See above.  This is a repeat of the saved walking in the light. The gates are always opened in heaven to those that are enlightened as the Messiah said I set before you an open door (Rev. 3:8).


John 10:9
9 I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.

Rev. 21: 27 And there shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb's book of life.


As it is heaven, so it is in the earth (Rom. 1:19-20). In the camp of Israel nothing unclean was allowed in the camp, from the women on their monthly memes to the diseased, such as lepers.


Leviticus 13:46
He shall remain unclean all the days during which he has the infection; he is unclean. He shall live alone; his dwelling shall be outside the camp.


Lev. 15:19 - 28
19 And if a woman have an issue, and her issue in her flesh be blood, she shall be put apart seven days: and whosoever toucheth her shall be unclean until the even.​
